As a long time Stand-up paddle boarder, as well as a self-proclaimed yogi, when Kelly found out about Paddle Into Fitness’ merging of the two sports, she was instantly intrigued. In May, when Paddle Into Fitness ventured to Mexico for a SUP yoga teacher training retreat, Kelly fueled her constant wanderlust and made the journey to the small fishing town of Punta de Mita with 12 ladies from around the country.
For an entire week of stand-up paddling, surfing, yoga and meditation, Kelly and the girls took to the ocean (and the ever changing conditions) on SUP boards while learning how to teach three different SUP yoga classes. Punta de Mita was the perfect place for the teacher training. While surrounded by nature, the fun-loving and adventurous group of girls were able to free their mind, body and spirit.
An adventure wouldn’t be complete without seeing some sights, doing some shopping, and taking in the local culture and cuisine. The girls explored the tiny town square, fishing docks, and local restaurants with the freshest caught fish.
In Kelly’s words, “I will forever hold a very special place in my heart coming away from this amazing experience and opportunity. I feel lucky to have met so many brave girls that I was able to share my passions with, while surrounded by the beauty of Punta de Mita. I recommend this retreat for anyone who is looking to be inspired, and enjoy an amazing experience never to forget!”
Live. Laugh. Paddle. This mantra served as the theme, miles from Paddle Into Fitness’ headquarters in Southern California, throughout this beautiful and refreshing week.
