You will learn to confidently teach Paddle into Fitness® signature 1.5 hour paddleboard classes: Beginner Lesson (how to teach a beginner sup lesson, technique, water safety), Gentle Wave (beginner SUP Yoga class with restorative poses and guided savasana meditation) and Nautical Flow (intermediate vinyasa flow class with arm balances and inversions).

Get Started:

Paddle Into Fitness now has an online learning module in addition to the water skills practical. This allows you to start the classroom portion of our certification online by reading the manual, watching videos, and taking quizzes. Once the online learning module is completed, you may schedule the water skills practical. You are required to demonstrate SUP technique, advanced turns and water safety with Gillian in California or a Master Trainer at their location.

Why did we decide to offer a partially online course? This way you can start your certification wherever you live, at any time of the year. If you aren’t confident in your paddle skills yet, you have the option to receive video feedback from Gillian prior to your student testing. After the classroom portion, receive extensive stroke and water skills training with Gillian or a Master Trainer so you feel extra confident. These course options give you the freedom to schedule your training at a master trainer location that may be more convenient!

Here's what to expect.....

  • Complete the Paddle Into Fitness online course! Read all the course notes, look at the How To's, watch the detailed videos, and pass all the quizzes. Take the WPA Level 1 Test and PIF Test. The online learning model is accessible at anytime, allowing you to study at your own pace, and refresh your learning after the certification.

  • Option to submit videos. Your stroke and pivot turn doesn't need to be perfect, we want to see where you are at, give you feedback, and help you progress!

  • Schedule your water skills practical with Gillian in California or at any of our Master Trainer locations, at any time, for your convenience. There is no time limit. SUP rental equipment is included, or if preferred, students can bring their own equipment.

Click ‘Add to Cart’ above, make the payment, and you will be given a login to our online portal. Please also fill out an application. You will be prompted to upload a CPR, AED, & First Aid Certificate before receiving your Paddle Into Fitness Certification. You should be a proficient swimmer (able to swim 25 yards) and be comfortable doing water sports. It is recommended that you have at least one year of SUP experience.

It is recommended to have one year of teaching (any kind) experience and one year of yoga experience, but it is not required to apply. It is highly recommended to have your 200-hour RYT certification, however it is not required to apply. (You should be currently enrolled in your 200HR TT or have plans in the near future to attend. It is not advised to be instructing SUP Yoga until this is completed.)
